The Wood lamp skin analysis colors may show:

• Blue - healthy skin
• White Spots - thick layer of dead skin cells
• Light Purple - dehydration
• Dark Purple - sensitive, thin and dehydrated
• Brown Spots - pigmentation/sun damage
• Orange - Oily skin
• Light Yellow - acne, comedones

The UV Lamp may show the following:

• Increase in pigmentation to determine whether the condition is: Epidermal or Dermal
• Pigmented lesions have a clear border under Woods light because the light is absorbed by increased melanin
• Loss of pigmentation (eg, vitiligo) to identify affected areas in light-skinned people
• Hypopigmented skin has sharper borders under black light and fluoresces bright blue white while areas of reduced blood flow are unchanged
